The Santa Monica designer, Stacy Johnson stakes out a new middle ground between the t-shirt and the sweater - the Sweatertee- in form fitting, washable cotton and rayon jersey styles, perfect for the California beach lifestyle.

In New York
Designer Stacy Johnson, raised in Hawaii and Alaska, was schooled at Parsons School of Design in New York City, and trained by designers Calvin Klein and Cynthia Rowley. She launched her eponymous boutique, stacia new york, in 1998. Her designs were featured in WWD, InStyle, Elle, New York Magazine, USA Today, Travel & Leisure, and The Wall Street Journal.

A New Adventure
After the arrival of Campbell Duke Viles, on February 26, 2004, Stacy reevaluated, and embraced change. After six successful years, she wound down her boutique, sold off many of her possessions in an old-fashioned New York stoop sale, and moved to Santa Monica with her family to start anew.

New Inspirations
Inspired by her son and her new California beach lifestyle, Stacy launches her stacia knitwear line and stacia baby for wholesale and retail. Her collection stakes out a new middle ground between the t-shirt and the sweater -- the Sweatertee -- in soft, luxurious, ultra-light, washable cotton or rayon. In vibrant, one-of-a-kind, beach-inspired prints and form-fitting styles. More dressy, more finished, more stylized than a t-shirt; yet more athletic, more versatile, more "after-surf" than a sweater . Her signature fabric, a rayon Spacedye jersey can go from work to beach to a night out all in comfort and style.

From Her Store to Yours
As a seasoned veteran of New York retail, Stacy understands customers, merchandising and retailing. She has a trained eye for what fits, what sells, and what generates positive press coverage. At stacia new york, the stacia knitwear collection was always the best-selling category. Now the stacia knitwear line is offered for wholesale to select boutiques across the country and online. The original web site, stacianewyork.com relaunches for e-commerce at a new address -- www.shopstacia.com.
